I Seek You is a zine that encapsulates moments in time that will probably never be read about in history books or shown in mainstream media. It’s about the intensity of emotion that comes with trying to figure out our place in a world we don’t quite understand yet—all the things that break hearts and bones, and the self-destructive ways in which we coped.
The idea for this zine was inspired by the terrifying yet life-affirming experience of growing up queer in an all-girls school in the early 2000s, and the quest for a sense of place within the fabric of the Singaporean identity.
Building on testimonies uncovered during interviews that took place with queer AFAB Millennials and Gen Zs—the intimate narratives within are told through decolonised story structures, and from queer, teenage, female perspectives. This zine uses storytelling as a form of resistance and resilience, in response to our institutionalised invisibility in Singapore's mainstream media. It stands as a testament to today's queer youth, showing them they are not alone and can overcome their struggles, just as we did, having lived through them and survived to share our experiences.
